The pink stones had been used for centuries as cheap building material in the mountains north of Verona. The peculiarity of the material is that is already naturally layered, that allow to extracted the material directly in slabs. This characteristic made possible for centuries to create architectures entirely made out of pink marble slabs. The mountain region north of Verona, called Lessinia is presenting some unique example of vernacular stone architectures made out of pink marble slabs.
